Henry Adams photographs, 1866-ca. 1900.

Photographs taken or purchased by Henry Adams that document his travels to England, Egypt, Tahiti, Japan, Fiji, and Wyoming from 1870-1894. The subjects of these photographs include landscape views of Tahiti, Japan, and Wyoming; Fijian natives; Japanese and Egyptian antiquities; and various places in England. Also featured in the photographs are Henry Adams and his travel companions, including John La Farge and John Hay. One album and one box of loose photographs also contain portraits probably taken by Henry Adams; subjects include various friends and members of the Hooper and Adams families, as well as Henry Adams himself. There is also one album belonging to Marian "Clover" Hooper Adams that contains commercial photographs of France, England, Scotland, and Switzerland. Includes photographs taken by Henry Adams, Joseph Paxson Iddings, J. Pascal Sebah, Antonio Beato, Dufty Bros. (Levuka, Fiji), and F.H. Dufty (Suva, Fiji). All of the images are paper-based photographs.

Joseph Paxson Iddings (1857-1920) was a petrologist who specialized in igneous rocks.
